Two Filipino women kidnapped in Iraq rescued – DFA

/ 05:45 AM July 10, 2018

Two Filipino women who were kidnapped just outside Baghdad on Saturday have been rescued by the Iraqi police in Diyala province, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Monday.

The women had been traveling with three compatriots on the road between Baghdad and the oil city of Kirkuk when their car broke down, an Iraqi military source said.

Unknown men drove by in a yellow car and took the women.

“Their safe recovery would not have been possible without the swift response of our Iraqi friends,” Foreign Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano said. —Marlon Ramos
