The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) urged Filipino workers in Saudi Arabia to remain vigilant after a missile strike killed three civilians in the southern city of Jizan on Saturday.
At the same time, the Philippines expressed its condolences to the Kingdom for “the unfortunate loss of lives” due to the missile strike.
The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah said no Filipinos were hurt in the incident and added that it has constantly reminded members of the Filipino community to take the necessary precautions.
Consul General Edgar Badajos said an estimated 15,000 Filipinos work in Jizan, which was targeted by “a projectile” fired by rebels from Yemen.
Badajos has also expressed confidence that the Saudi missile defense system could protect the Kingdom from incoming missiles. /muf
