Leni blames Kuwait ‘crisis’ on Duterte admin moves

/ 07:04 AM May 05, 2018

Vice President Leni Robredo has called out the Duterte administration for its recent actions that she said had “created a diplomatic challenge that could further jeopardize our workers” in Kuwait.

Robredo particularly cited the “deliberate release” of videos of the Department of Foreign Affairs’ mission to rescue distressed housemaids in the Gulf state for causing the “crisis.”

She said the DFA had a team of “professional, competent, and committed career diplomats who undoubtedly have skills, insight, and experience to help navigate this current diplomatic dilemma successfully” and help restore relations with Kuwait.

“There is no option except to find a solution that will protect both the lives and the livelihoods of our overseas Filipino workers,” Robredo said. —VINCE F. NONATO
