Japanese ship (JS) Osumi (LST-4001) of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) is scheduled to arrive in Manila on Thursday for a three-day port visit.
In an advisory released by the Philippine Navy, the JS Osumi will dock at Pier 15 in South Harbor. It is the frontrunner of Osumi-class tank landing ships of the JMSDF.
Commander of Landing Ship Division One Capt. Tomonori Kobayashi and the ship’s commanding officer Capt. Yuji Horikawa will lead the visiting 140 officers and crew.
The Philippine Navy said it will render customary welcome ceremony upon the arrival of JS Osumi. It will be followed by a port briefing on security and health aboard the ship.
The JS Osumi is the third Japanese naval vessel to visit the Philippines this year following the arrival of destroyers JS Amagiri (DD-154) and JS Akizuki (DD-115). /jpv
