Roque on China’s poor trust rating: Give it time
PANIQUI, TARLAC—“Give it time.”
This was the reaction on Friday of presidential spokesperson Harry Roque to the results of the Social Weather Stations survey that said China was still the least trusted and the United States the most trusted country by Filipinos.
“We’ve had a long period of alliance with American and Japan, and China is a relatively new friend, so we are not surprised by the results. Let us give the Chinese a chance,” he told a press briefing here.
“They [Chinese] promised to bring us many tourists. They promised to provide us capital and investments. Let us see if China will fulfill its promises,” Roque added.
“It will take some time before the country and China will become BFFs (best friends forever) …” he said. —MARIA ADELAIDA CALAYAG
