THE Saceda Youth Lead (SYL), a non-government organization in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, awarded a college dean of St. Paul University Dumaguete (SPUD) as this year’s Saceda Youth Lead Outstanding Teacher.
Dr. Caridad Maadil, dean of the College of Arts and Education, was chosen for her “exceptional” achievement in student development.
A statement from SPUD said Maadil stood out for being an “active teacher and leader whose passion, drive and commitment have stirred greater interest in encouraging and developing students and strengthening character.”
Born on March 3, 1953 in Valencia, Negros Oriental, Maadil completed her elementary and secondary education in Jolo, Sulu as class valedictorian before finishing her bachelor’s degree in education major in English and subsequently her master of arts in extension education at Silliman University.
She took her doctor in philosophy in education at the University of San Carlos in Cebu City and worked in the teaching profession for almost 30 years.
The award was given by SYL chairman and founder Dave Saceda, in partnership with the National Youth Commission, Commission on Higher Education, Department of Education, Asian Institute of Management, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, HOBY and World Peace.
