MANILA, Philippines—Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang arrived in Manila Wednesday afternoon for a three-day state visit.
The 62-year-old Vietnamese leader arrived at 1 p.m. on a chartered Vietnam Airlines flight at the Bulwagang Kalayaan in Villamor Airbase in Pasay City.
Among those who welcomed him at the airbase were Foreign Secretary Albert del Rosario and Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Jose Angel Honrado.
Sang is the first head of state to visit the country under Aquino’s administration.
The Vietnamese president’s visit is in line with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Vietnam. It will be highlighted by a meeting with President Benigno Aquino aimed at strengthening the ties between the two countries.
