The Department of Labor and Employment said Tuesday that new workers to Kuwait would not be allowed to leave for their own protection.
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said there would be no new deployment as long as a bilateral agreement aimed at protecting overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) was not signed between the Philippines and Kuwaiti.
Bello asked affected OFWs to understand the deployment ban that the government issued on Monday.
“Sana maintindihan ng ating mga kababayan na itong ban na ito ay para sa kanilang proteksyon,” the labor secretary said. /cbb
