DAGUPAN CITY – An Indian-Filipino businessman known for his philanthropic work survived a shooting attack at 10 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 6) on his way home from a Rotary Club meeting.
Ashok Vasandani, a naturalized Filipino citizen, suffered three bullet wounds, with two bullets grazing his right torso and one penetrating and exiting through his belly.
He was brought to the Nazareth Hospital where he was under observation although he had been declared out of danger.
Vasandani was driving along the corner of Bolosan and Castro Sarmienta vIllages when an unidentified gunman shot him several times.
Wounded, the businessman sped towards his house.
His attacker was seen going towards Mangaldan town.
Forensic investigators recovered 8 spent cartridges fired from a caliber .45 pistol.
In August 2014, Vasandani’s nephew Raja Mirchandani, was shot dead in the same area.
In 2015, brothers Sanjay and Rajesh Katri were killed by two gunmen, while they were having dinner at their older sister’s eatery along Malued District.
Another Indian national Gurmeet Singh, from San Fabian town, was shot and killed on April 22, 2017.
