The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested Chinese nationals for detaining their compatriot in a rented house in Parañaque City.
At a press conference Tuesday, NBI Spokesperson Ferdinand Lavin identified the arrested suspects as Su Jianshui and Chenwin Bin. They were arrested last January 19 at their office at the Shell Residence in Pasay.
The two were arrested in a follow-up operation after the rescue of their employee—a Chinese couple identified as Ai Xiao Feng and Xiao Ozao Ling. They were rescued by agents of the Anti-Organized and Transnational Crime Division (NBI-AOTCD).
Lavin said the two have been subjected to inquest proceedings for serious illegal detention under Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code.
NBI-AOTCD Chief Dennis Sychian said the suspects operate an online gaming business and accused the couple of losing P5.5 million. The couple were handcuffed and brought to a rented space in Moonwalk last January 18.
A security guard reported the incident to the NBI.
It was discovered that the victims used tourist visas in entering the Philippines.
