The Bureau of Immigration is investigating the involvement of foreign nationals in the narcotics trade following the arrest of three Indians in Iloilo for possessing illegal drugs.

In a statement, Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said he sent a team of operatives to the provinces where other law enforcement agencies had also arrested Indians involved in illegal drugs.

Morente ordered intelligence division chief Sherwin Pascua to dispatch operatives to Iloilo to investigate the Indian nationals arrested by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Amandeep Tangri, Joginder Pal Tangri and Tehal Singh were all found to have expired visas.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Iloilo also invited 31 other Indian nationals for verification of their immigration status.—JULIE M. AURELIO
