The Chinese government has turned over P5.1 million worth of humanitarian aid to the Philippine government to assist in the relief efforts on the damages brought by tropical storm “Urduja.”
Chinese Embassy counsellor Sun Yi said the turnover of humanitarian aid was made on behalf of the Red Cross Society of China to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).
In a statement on Wednesday, Sun said the Chinese side looks forward to aiding Filipinos in restoring their normal livelihood and overcoming the havoc caused by Urduja in the Visayas as soon as possible.
PRC Secretary General Oscar Palayab said he expressed sincere appreciation to China’s “goodwill” and “generosity.”
“The Chinese side has always been the first to respond and extend helping hands whenever the Philippines and its people are in difficulties,” Palayab said in a statement on behalf of PRC chairman Richard Gordon.
“The heart-warming donation once again bears witness to the friendly sentiments of the Chinese people towards the Philippine people, and will further deepen amity and mutual understanding between the two peoples,” the PRC official said.
