Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle celebrated Mass with the Holy See’s new ambassador to the Philippines, Gabriele Caccia, to welcome the new envoy who started his Philippine mission in November.
“Our gathering is made more special by the presence in our midst of the new apostolic nuncio, His Excellency, Archbishop Gabriele Caccia,” said Tagle during homily at the Manila Cathedral at the celebration of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
Caccia, according to Tagle, “is just starting his mission in the Philippines, getting to know us and bringing to us the love and closeness of the Holy Father.”
Caccia had presented his credentials to President Duterte in Malacañang on Dec. 6.
The new Holy See envoy made his first public appearance on Nov. 22 during the commemoration of Red Wednesday, in memory of Church martyrs, at the Manila Cathedral.
