The Department of Labor and Employment is set to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the government of China on Wednesday for the hiring of Filipino household service workers (HSWs) and English teachers.
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said he would sign the MOU with China’s minister of labor.
“In my casual meeting with the ambassador of China, we were talking initially of 100,000 English teachers and about 100,000 English-speaking household service workers,” he said.
The HSWs will be deployed to major cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Xiamen. —Tina G. Santos
