The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is already preparing the deportation of a Korean national wanted in his country for swindling.
BI Commissioner Jaime Morente identified the fugitive as 41-year-old Park Petero who was arrested last Sept. 26 at his home along Plaridel Street, Bgy. Sto. Niño, Angeles City, Pampanga by operatives from the bureau’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU).
Immigration records showed that Park arrived in the Philippines on Oct. 12, 2012.
Park was the subject of a red notice from Interpol which was issued due to an arrest warrant that a Korean court issued against him in 2015.
“He will be deported for being an undesirable alien and for posing risk to public safety on account of his status as a fugitive from justice,” Morente said on Monday.
BI intelligence officer Bobby Raquepo, BI-FSU chief, said Park is wanted for defrauding a fellow Korean of 60 million won which he borrowed from the victim on the pretext that he would invest the money in the cosmetics business.
To convince his victims, he promised a four-percent monthly interest. But he reneged on his promise.
He fled to the Philippines upon learning that his victims filed a complaint against him. /je
