PH gov’t condemns train station attack in London

The Philippine government condemned on Saturday the latest terror attack in London that left dozens of people wounded in a subway train station.

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella has also urged Filipinos in London to remain vigilant as investigation by the UK authorities unfold.

“We strongly condemn the latest terrorist attack near the Parsons Green station in Southwest London that left scores of people injured,” Abella said in a statement.

Abella said the Philippine Embassy in London was closely monitoring the situation in the UK. There were no reports yet of any Filipino casualty in the incident.

“Our embassy officials and staff have advised the members of the Filipino community to remain calm yet vigilant even as there are no reports of Filipinos injured in the explosion,” Abella noted.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of the blast as we wish them a speedy recovery,” he added.

Using an improvised explosive device, suspected members of the Islamic State bombed the London Underground’s Parsons Green station during the rush hour on Friday, leaving 29 people hurt in the attack. /jpv
