Fugitive Sokors recaptured
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) over the weekend recaptured two South Korean fugitives who escaped from its detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City last March 6.
Park Wangyeol and Jung Jaeyul, both 38, eluded arrest for three months but were rearrested in an operation last Saturday in Tarlac City.
BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said the two were members of a criminal syndicate involved in gun-for-hire and swindling activities victimizing their fellow South Koreans.
“I have instructed our deportation unit to immediately arrange their flight back to South Korea so they can be tried and punished for their crimes,” Morente said in a statement.
Park and Jung were arrested in a raid of the BI and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group at their apartment in Macabulos Street, Barangay San Pablo in Tarlac City.
Tipsters led authorities to the suspects’ hideout, where they had been seeking shelter for the past weeks.
