The Philippine government on Tuesday condemned the bomb attack in Manchester and expressed sympathies to the families of the victims.

“The Philippine government and the entire Filipino people stand in solidarity with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in strongly condemning the inexcusable attack, which resulted in the death of 22 people and injured at least 59 others in the explosion at the Manchester Arena,” the Department of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

“The Philippine government conveys its condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims of this senseless attack and prays for the immediate recovery of the injured,” it added.

The victims of the reported suicide bombing were attending a concert of American pop singer Ariana Grande. Witnesses said the crowd was on its way out of the arena when a “massive explosion” happened.

The DFA said the nationalities of the victims have not yet been available but that the Philippine Embassy in London initially reported that no Filipino has been injured.

“The Embassy continues to closely monitor the situation,” it said.
