The Embassy of the United States in Manila alerted Americans about credible information of an alleged plan by terrorists to conduct kidnappings in Palawan.

The United Kingdom reminded its citizens to exercise heightened vigilance based on the same information from the US Embassy.

According to the US Embassy’s travel advisory, it has received “credible information that terrorist groups may be planning to conduct kidnapping operations targeting foreign nationals in the areas of Palawan Province, to include Puerto Princesa City and the areas surrounding Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park.”

It further said: “US citizens are advised to carefully consider this information as they make their travel plans and to review personal security plans, avoid large crowds and gatherings, and remain vigilant at all times.”

Meanwhile, the UK travel advice gave a similar reminder to its citizens, saying: “You should carefully consider travel plans, and exercise heightened vigilance in these areas.” /atm
