Duterte to visit Cambodia, HK, Beijing this week

President Rodrigo Duterte will visit Cambodia, Hong Kong and Beijing this week to meet other world leaders and attend several economic events.
Foreign Affairs spokesperson Robespierre Bolivar said the President would be in Cambodia to participate in the World Economic Forum on Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) from May 10 to 11.
He will be attending as this year’s chair of the Asean and will be given the opportunity to promote Dutertenomics, which aims to usher in the “golden age of infrastructure” for the Philippines.

“The organizers of the World Economic Forum have given the President a press conference to address the business leaders,” said Bolivar during a Palace briefing. He said the President would be able to promote Dutertenomics to the participating CEOs.

From Cambodia, Duterte will fly to Hong Kong to meet overseas Filipino workers.
Bolivar credited the Filipino community there for “promoting enhanced trade relations between the Philippines and Hong Kong.” There are around 210,000 Filipinos living and working in Hong Kong.
On May 13, Duterte will arrive in Beijing for the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

At the forum, which will take place from May 14 to 15, Duterte will join 27 other heads of state and three participating international organizations.
The event will include a leaders’ round table to be chaired by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Bolivar said the talks will mostly focus on economic issues.
“The South China Sea is a crucial waterway so definitely if it touches upon the South China Sea issue then it would probably lead to ensure the freedom of navigation and commerce transiting through the area,” Bolivar said during an ambush interview after the briefing. CBB
