OFW arrested for faking robbery claim in Macau

/ 07:45 AM May 03, 2017

A Filipina was arrested for reportedly fabricating a robbery incident after gambling her hard-earned money at a casino.

According to Asia Times, which cited Journal Do Cidadao, the 36-year-old domestic helper claimed before the police that three men had robbed her of 10,500 patacas (P65,487) on Friday. However, cops noticed inconsistencies in the helper’s story and suspected her of faking her claims.

Eventually the Filipina admitted to reporting the bogus story due to fears that her family in the Philippines, the intended recipient of the lost money, would castigate her for splurging it in the casino.

She was arrested for suspected crime simulation, local newspaper Tai Chung Pou reported.  Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
