Asean leaders affirm role of civil service in good governance

Leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) members states signed a document meant to forge cooperation at the Asean in Manila on Saturday.
President Rodrigo Duterte led the Asean leaders at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), the main venue for the event.
The theme for the 30th Asean summit hosted by the Philippines is “people-centered, innovation-led growth and resilient Asean.”
The leaders signed a document that affirmed the role of civil service as a catalyst for achieving the Asean Community Vision 2025.
Leaders present were Myanmar state counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Thailand Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha, Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Phuc, Laos Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith, Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Cambodia Prime Minister Hun Sen, Indonesia President Joko Widodo, and Malaysia Prime Minister Najib Razak.
