Duterte, other heads of state arrive at Asean Summit

President Rodrigo Dutere and his fellow leaders arrived at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) on Saturday morning for the 30th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean).

Duterte and his partner Honeylet Avanceña welcomed each of the nine heads of state at the Reception Hall Lobby of the PICC.

Brunei Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah was the first to arrive. Duterte, wearing a barong tagalog, shook Bolkiah’s hand and talked to him for several seconds. He did the same for Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Laos Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith were accompanied by their wives.

Myanmar state counselor Aung San Suu Kyi, wearing a white top and the traditional “longyi” or sarong-like skirt, arrived next.

Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak was also with his wife Rosmah Mansor during the arrival.

Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong was the seventh leader to arrive at the PICC for the Asean Summit.

Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha and his wife Naraporn Chan-ocha were also welcomed by Duterte and Avanceña.

Last to arrive were Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his wife.
