Asean leaders to get PH mahogany wood trays as token – Palace

The heads of state of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) will bring home Philippine mahogany wood trays with brass etching as token for their participation in the Asean Summit and Related Meetings in Manila.

The trays will have the following design motifs:

Singkil or Sayaw sa Kasingkil is a folk dance of the Maranao people of Lake Lanao.

Pattern copied from traditional tapestry called T’ nalak of T’ bolis from South Cotabato.

Sarimanok is a legendary bird that has become a ubiquitous symbol of Maranao art.

The spouses of the Asean heads of state, meanwhile, will receive a clear tempered glass cheese plates with the following design accents—brass Kulintang in Nickel Plate Accent and brass Sarimanok in Nickel Plate Accent.

Malacañang said ‘the production message for the Asean Summit Gala Dinner is celebrating our cultural diversity and commonality with our Asean neighbors.”
