Illegal OFW faces deportation in Bermuda

/ 11:18 AM April 01, 2017

An overseas Filipino worker on St. David’s Island, Bermuda, is awaiting deportation after working illegally in the country for five years.

Local news site The Royal Gazette reported that Ernesto Bandong, 54, a mechanic, pleaded guilty to having stayed in the country since March 2012 without the necessary documents or a work visa.

The country’s Immigration department had found  that after his work permit expired in 2011, Bandong returned to the country in 2012 and has never departed . Police arrested Bandong in his auto shop on Wednesday, where he admitted to the charge leveled against him.

Bandong is currently under police custody and is waiting to be deported to the Philippines.  Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
