Filipinos in UK urged to be vigilant after London attack

The Philippine Embassy in London on Wednesday (Thursday, PHT) urged Filipinos living and working in the United Kingdom to remain vigilant after a knife attack and car rampage in London that left two people dead.

“In view of the firearms incident outside @UKParliament, we advise Filipinos in London to remain vigilant & monitor UK security advisories,” the embassy posted on its Twitter account.

The British Parliament was on lockdown Wednesday after an assailant stabbed an officer. The attacker was shot by police.

Around the same time, a vehicle mowed down pedestrians on nearby Westminster Bridge.

The threat level for international terrorism in the UK was listed at severe. Wednesday was the anniversary of suicide bombings in the Brussels airport and subway that killed 32 people.

Authorities said they were treating the attack as a “terrorist incident until we know otherwise.” /atm
