Remains of slain caregiver brought to Cagayan from Jordan
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan — The remains of 36-year-old caregiver Felma Dalupang-Maramag, a homicide victim in a Feb. 5 attack in Jordan, were flown to the Tuguegarao Domestic Airport on Sunday night (Feb. 19), and were transported to the Peñablanca town in Cagayan province.
Maramag’s two-year contract was about to expire and she was scheduled to return to the country in March when she and her employer were bludgeoned to death by two Jordanians over a wage dispute. The suspects were employed as part-time househelps.
The Jordanian suspects have been arrested. Maramag’s family will pursue a criminal complaint against them with the help of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
Natividad Dalupang, Maramag’s 68-year-old mother, said the caregiver had been sending money for household expenses, as well as the school requirements of Maramag’s 15-year-old daughter, Angelica.
Angelica said her mother telephoned to remind her to be “a good girl always,” on Feb. 3, two days before she was killed. SFM
