More Polish tourists eyed

/ 03:34 AM January 06, 2017

The Philippine Embassy in Poland is working to draw more Polish tourists to the country.

Ambassador to Poland Patricia Ann Paez met recently with Emirates Airlines-Poland country manager Maciej Pyrka to discuss means to promote the Philippines as a travel destination for Polish nationals particularly for meetings, conventions and events.

Pyrka paid a courtesy call on the Philippine ambassador to Poland paving the way for talks on a possible partnership between the airline firm and the embassy for projects to lure Polish tourists to the archipelago.

While Pyrka noted an increase in tourist arrivals in the Philippines from Poland last year, he said that the number of Polish visitors can still grow with Emirates offering direct flights from Warsaw to Cebu City.

According to 2011 records of the Department of Tourism, Polish tourists numbered around 4,000.
