Two of the remaining 10 FA-50 fighter aircraft from South Korea will be delivered on Thursday.
“This is the arrival and we will have the usual water cannon salute in Clark,” Air Force chief Lt. Gen. Edgar Fallorina told reporters on Tuesday at Camp Aguinaldo.
The Air Force chief said he just came from South Korea for the test flight of the FA-50 fighter planes. A combat pilot during his younger years, Fallorina said he was able to fly in the backseat of plane for the test flight over the weekend.
“It really gives pride to every fighter pilot…It’s really great to secure a country with a fighter aircraft,” he said.
Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana will be the guest of honor at the arrival ceremony.
The two planes will be flown by pilots from the Korean Aerospace Industries. The first batch of the 12 fighter planes arrived in November 2015.
The rest of the planes will be delivered in a staggered basis until 2018.
The Air Force has ordered 12 planes from Korea Aerospace Industries worth P18.9 billion. RAM
