6 Vietnamese nationals abducted in Basilan

ZAMBOANGA CITY—Six Vietnamese nationals were abducted by armed men who stormed a foreign vessel somewhere in Basilan on Friday dawn.

Major Filemon Tan Jr., spokesperson of the Western Mindanao Command, said they received report from the Philippine Coast Guard that MV Royal 16 was attacked by armed men near Sibago Island in Lamitan City, Basilan.

“Immediately, the Coast Guard advised another vessel, MV Lorcon Iloilo, to render necessary assistance,” Tan said.

Tan said MV Lorcon Iloilo informed the Coast Guard Zamboanga that a crew of MV Royal 16 was wounded.
