INM Postcard2

SAN FRANCISCO – Flamenco’s complex rhythms, soulful and heart-wrenching sounds, sensual movements and intricate and powerful footwork of the dancers, all combine to seduce and entrance.

Intersect this with “Filipino” and the result is the award-winning In Nomine Matris (In the Name of the Mother, Sa Ngalan ng Ina), a rare musical, choreographic, and dramatic experience written and directed by Will Fredo and starring Liza Diño, the newly appointed Chairperson of the Film Development Council of the Philippines.

Also starring in the film are Biboy Ramirez, Al Gatmaitan, Jam Pérez, Maradee De Guzman, Bong Cabrera, Leo Rialp, Joan Palisoc, and introducing Tami Monsod and Clara Ramona.

On Saturday, November 19, Philippine American Writers and Artists (PAWA), Inc., will show the film as a fundraiser for the Fourth Filipino American International Book Festival to be held in San Francisco on October 6-8, 2017.

There will be two screenings of the HUBO Productions film at the New People Cinema, 1746 Post Street in San Francisco. The first is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. and the second at 7:15 p.m..

Both screenings will be followed by a Q&A. A special Meet and Greet the Artists (Will Fredo, Liza Diño) reception is scheduled at 5:15 p.m. for special donor ticket holders.

In Nomine Matris, first released in Manila in 2013, has been shown in some film festivals, and has won several awards. It was the closing film in the VII Ciclo de Cine y flamenco in Seville, Spain, but it has not been widely distributed.

General admission is $16 and the special donor ticket, which includes admission to the 5:15 reception and the 7:15 screening, is $50. For more details and to purchase tickets, please visit the book festival website: <https://www.filbookfestival.org>.
