Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) chairman Nur Misuari on Thursday accused Malaysia of using Moro people in kidnap-for-ransom activities in Mindanao.
“Our source is saying that since Malaysia is the one who is involved in this kidnap-for-ransom [activities], probably, one day, I will drag their leaders into that International Criminal Court. I have all the [pieces of] evidence in my hands. My people are everywhere and besides, they cannot escape because they are hiring my own people,” Misuari said while he was speaking at the presidential podium in Malacañang.
The MNLF leader recalled the “Sipadan” hostage taking, saying the Moros were used for the crisis.
“Even Sipadan, they hired my cadre officers, because they opt for the millions,” he said.
The Sipadan hostage crisis happened in 2000 at a diving beach resort on Sipadan Island in Sabah, Malaysia, where 21 foreign tourists were kidnapped reportedly by the Abu Sayyaf bandits.
But Misuari recalled there were Malaysian officials who sent feelers to him for a meeting in Saudi Arabia and in Indonesia through his nephew.
“We want to see the chairman,” the Malaysians were quoted as saying.
“I said: ‘Stop it, I don’t have the heart to see these people after they make this conspiracy to destroy the honor and integrity of my people,” Misuari said.
Misuari’s revelations and attacks against Malaysia came a few days before President Rodrigo Duterte will make a two-day official visit, from November 9 to November 10, in Kuala Lumpur.
Misuari was in Malacañang on Thursday afternoon to meet up with Duterte after three years in hiding due to rebellion charges. TVJ
