THE MULTI-TITLED Convergys Wolves gave the Executive Boutique Tarantulas a neat lesson in basketball, pulling off a merciless 88-15 triumph last Saturday in the 2011 Powerade E-League for Basketball at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym.
The newcomers Tarantulas scored just two points in the first period and three in the second, while the Wolves poured in 40 points in the first half that set the tone for what could be the most lopsided victory in the history of the annual tournament.
Convergys, which was dethroned by the Teletech Titans last season, scored 48 more points in the second half while holding Executive Bouttique to just 10 to seal the resounding victory.
Dean Junber Escalon and Kevin Pasculado led the Wolves with 13 points each, while Emmanuel David Cosca and Kevin Ray Gutierrez added 10 apiece.
No player scored in double figures for the overmatched Tarantulas with Datuin Amino Jr., Vincent Rei Aguilar, Franc Bernard Vale and Alberto Galamiton the only players barging into the scoring column.
In the other game, the Eperformax Reds likewise snatched their first win of the season by trashing the SupportSave Dragons, 70-40.
Raymond Dennis Tan led the way for the Reds with 16 points, Ignatius Loyola and Floyd Singco pitched in 13 each. Loyola also grabbed 13 rebounds./EDITORIAL ASSISTANT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
