DAVAO CITY – President Duterte will gather support from member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in addressing terrorism.
“Recent events have shown that there are elements out there who seek to sow terror and wreak havoc in our society,” the President said on Monday, adding that the Philippines would “remain firm in our resolve to combat terrorism.”
Mr. Duterte also asked “every Filipino to do his and her part for the sake of our country.”
He said he would use the opportunity in the ASEAN summit “to seek better support for regional efforts to address terrorism and violent extremism.”
The President was scheduled to leave, on Monday, for Laos, where the Asean Summit will be held.
On Friday, a bomb exploded at a night market here, leaving 14 people dead and at least 67 others wounded.
