DAVAO CITY, Philippines—President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday said his administration is currently searching for ambassadors, who could represent the country to the United Nations (UN) and to the United States (US).
He said during a Cabinet meeting last Tuesday, there was a suggestion that Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana should become the country’s ambassador to the UN but he declined.
Duterte said the vacancies should be filled but that he wanted the right candidates.
“We need a very dynamic UN representative and in our dealings with the US, we need a proactive ambassador. Our relations with the US are going well but there are dynamics such as in the matter of drug cases,” he said. RAM
