THE Visayan Electric Co. Inc. (Veco), through its corporate social responsibility, held its first Operation Tuli last April 30 at the Calamba Barangay Hall in Cebu City.
Veco’s first medical mission, dubbed “Astig Ka Boy,” circumcised 50 boys, aged five to 12, for free. After the circumcision, each of the childen was given medicines.
Two medical doctors assisted by six nurses and eight Veco “kaibigans” facilitated the whole-day activity.
“Astig Ka Boy” is a project under the Primary Health and Child Care Program of the Aboitiz Foundation Inc. that responds to the need of adolescent boys in their journey to manhood.
Parents took the opportunity in bringing their sons to avail of the free circumcision. They said operation tuli was a big help to their budget, especially now that enrollment of classes is fast approaching.
Veco community relations manager Eric Ching said the Operation Tuli will be an annual summer activity.
