FORMER president Fidel Ramos is still undecided whether he would accept the offer to be the country’s special envoy to China after an international tribunal ruled in favor of the Philippines’ maritime case in the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea).
“If I get the medical clearance,” he told reporters on Tuesday when asked if he would accept the offer of President Duterte to represent the Philippines in China.
“Anyway, I have asked for an appointment to call on the President at his most convenient time, wherever he is, I will go,” Ramos said.
The former president was at the AFP Museum at Camp Aguinaldo for the launch of his book “For a Better Philippines-World.”
Ramos said that aside from his health issues, he also has other commitments.
“I am committed to finishing my commitments to the people called millennials, senior citizens to promote patriotism…,” he said.
Two days after The Hague’s ruling that China’s massive nine-dash claims in the South China Sea had no legal basis, Duterte appointed Ramos to start the talks with China.
