Duterte condemns France attack, vows to join fight vs terror

President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday vowed to join the world in its fight against terrorism amid the violent attack in France that killed close to 100 people.

“Rest assured that we join you in your fight against terrorism,” Duterte said in an interview with state-run television in Davao City.

On Friday, at least 80 people were killed after a truck loaded with guns slammed into revelers watching a fireworks display for Bastille Day celebration in Nice.

Duterte condemned the truck attack and called it a “terrorist act.”

“We condemn the brutal and violent…terrorist act,” he said.

He said the Philippine government joins the world in grieving for the violent attack.

“I would like to take this opportunity to make a public statement, to say that we share the grief of France in the rampage of multiple murders of their citizens,” he said.

“We join the rest of the world in mourning and express our solidarity with France, against terrorism, against what is fundamentally evil,” he added. CDG
