4,000 Peter Lims in BI’s database

Will the real Peter Lim please stand up?

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has found in its database more than 4,000 people named Peter Lim, the name of one of the alleged drug lords publicly named by President Duterte.

The agency would seek clarification from the Philippine National Police about the records of the real Lim, alias Jaguar, before placing him on its watch list, BI spokesperson Antonette Mangrobang said on Friday.

“They may have other information with respect to his identity. If they are going to put Lim on the watch list, we’ve checked around 4,000 plus with the same name. It’s a common name. We’d like to request an image,” she said.

Mr. Duterte has accused two retired police officials, including Marcelo Garbo, and three active police officials of coddling drug lords. They have denied the charges.

Mr. Duterte later named Lim, Peter Co alias Wu Tuan, and Herbert Colangco as the alleged drug lords protected by Garbo.

Lim is allegedly a Triad member behind illegal drug operations in the Visayas. He is reportedly still able to shuttle between China and the Philippines. Mr. Duterte warned him not to set foot in the country again.

Both Co and Colangco are detained at New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City.
