NEW YORK CITY — Asia Society Museum’s new student exhibition Inspired by Philippine Gold: Treasures of Forgotten Kingdoms will featuring artwork by NYC schoolchildren inspired by the “gorgeous gold artworks” that was on display in our fall Philippine Gold exhibition, the museum announced.
The exhibition is on Thursday, June 2, at 10:30 a.m. to noon at Asia Society Museum 725 Park Avenue (at 70th St). Auditorium program will be followed by exhibition viewing. These student exhibition openings are held annually.
The exhibition is organized in collaboration with Studio in a School and is on view through August 7.
The event will feature elementary school students from participating schools P.S. 31, P.S. 38, and P.S. 133 in Brooklyn and P.S. 134 in Manhattan. “The students will talk about their artwork, and how they were inspired by the spectacular works of gold that were on display in our fall exhibition,” said the museum’s press release.
Inspired by Philippine Gold: Treasures of Forgotten Kingdoms is part of a series of exhibitions that presents the work of New York City students created in response to the great artistic traditions of Asia.
