Filipino sailor rescued after being stung by poisonous fish

A Filipino seaman was bitten by a poisonous toadfish off Malta.

SAN FRANCISCO — The Armed Forces of Malta Rescue Coordination Centre Thursday assisted an unnamed Filipino sailor who was stung by a poisonous silver-cheeked toadfish.

A Maltese registered vessel requested the AFM’s assistance following what seemed to be a poisonous fish sting suffered by one of its crew members.

The Filipino sailor was transferred to Haywharf base and taken to hospital by ambulance.
