Nurse Joel “The Quiet Storm’ Siapno. THE KENNEL BOXING GYM

SAN LEANDRO, California — Fil-Am Joel “The Quiet Storm” Siapno, currently a registered nurse for the San Leandro school district, will be entering the ring for his fourth professional fight, Saturday, May 21 at the Richmond Auditorium, Richmond, California.

The San Leandro-based Siapno, a 24-year-old, 2014 nursing graduate from Samuel Merritt University, has been training and sharpening his skills at The Kennel Boxing Gym, the first Filipino owned and managed boxing gym in the United States.

Siapno is campaigning in one of the hottest weight divisions in boxing, welterweight (147lbs); the same division as Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, the top names associated with the weight class.

Siapno is a big welterweight, 5’9”in height, who fought as a junior middleweight in amateur boxing. In preparation for his fourth professional bout, Siapno has been working hard at The Kennel Boxing Gym and sparring with many different pro boxers from the San Francisco Bay Area, including his stable mate, Mauricio “Nightmare” Zavaleta, a junior middleweight and scored an impressive first-round KO in his last pro boxing fight.

Siapno has improved dramatically since his pro debut.  His last outing was also at the Richmond Auditorium, which he scored a second-round TKO.  On Saturday, May 21, Siapno will be looking to improve his winning streak and KO percentage.

Siapno is dedicated, well-spoken, well-mannered, friendly, hardworking and a terror in the ring.  He has been labeled “The Quiet Storm” because he does not talk trash; instead does a lot of damage to other fighters inside the ring.

Siapno says it has been a dream of his to become a professional athlete.  He is an alumnus of St. Joseph’s High School in Alameda and was a star player on the school’s basketball team.  He started boxing at the end of his junior year in high school to stay in shape for the summer.

He enjoys his job as a registered nurse for the San Leandro School district, working with kids and hoping to inspire them through his experience in school and boxing career.

Siapno’s fourth professional bout at Richmond Auditorium is promoted by SquareVision Entertainment; it will be its third show at this venue.  Doors open 5 p.m. and tickets are priced at $45 balcony and $100 floor seating. In the East Bay tickets can be purchased at Kennel Boxing Gym, 3051 Teagarden St., San Leandro, 94577, or www.kennelboxing.com promo code “Storm.”
