SAN FRANCISCO — A Filipino crewman died as a result of an accident at Invergordon Port in Scotland on Friday morning, April 22, according to a report by North Star News in the UK.
Scotland police and the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are conducting a joint investigation into an apparent forklift accident.
The Filipino, whose name was withheld, was a crew member of the ship Deep Energy moored at Invergordon and operated by subsea engineering and construction firm Technip.
The mishap occurred during the loading of the company’s Deep Energy pipe-laying vessel.
A spokesman for Technip expressed “deep regret” and confirmed the fatal accident.
“The incident was reported at 8.30 a.m. Emergency services attended the scene and an investigation into the circumstances of the incident is in progress,” said the spokesman. “Relatives of the crew member involved have been informed. The company is offering support to the family, colleagues and friends.”
