The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and Richmond Fire-Rescue discovered a body in the frigid waters just south of Garden City Park.

Police say there doesn’t appear to be suspicious circumstances surrounding the death but would only confirm that the body is that of a young male.

Flores’ family launched a crowdfunding campaign to fly his body home to Toronto and raised more than $13,000 on its first day.

Flores, who used to work as a nurse at Rosewood Manor in Richmond, lived in Toronto. But he had family and friends in Richmond and was visiting the city.

After his family raised the alarm on December 27, but fears for his wellbeing grew as items of his clothing were found in the park. Both the coroner and Richmond RCMP said there didn’t appear to be suspicious circumstances.
