The United States Embassy in Manila and its affiliated offices will be closed on Monday, February 15, as it observes President’s Day, an American holiday.
The embassy will resume its services on February 16.
In a statement, the US Embassy in Manila said that it was in the 1970s when US Congress decided to pick a single day to honor all US presidents.
President’s Day is observed every third Monday of February.
Before President’s Day, the February 22 birthday of George Washington, first president of the US, was a national holiday. Most states also celebrated the birthday of Abraham Lincoln every February 12. IDL
