Woman shot dead by partner in Lapu

A 21-YEAR-old woman died yesterday after she was shot by her live-in partner after an argument in Purok Saging, barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City.

Chona Davajos suffered a gunshot wound in the head. She was rushed to the Lapu-Lapu City hospital but she didn’t reach the hospital alive.

The suspect Julius Dungog, 29, fled after the shooting and remained at large as of yesterday evening.

PO2 Carlos Barluado of the Lapu-Lapu City Homicide Section, said that Dungog, who had relationship issues to settle with Davajos, went to the house of the victim’s aunt, Emelda Tanajura, at 8 a.m. yesterday.

The couple were not in good terms and the victim was staying in her aunt’s house. When Dungog arrived at the house, he immediately went to Davajos to talk with her and they started arguing.

As they argued, Dungog suddenly pulled out a gun of unknown caliber and shot Davajos in the head.

Dungog then fled after the shooting while relatives brought the victim to the hospital.

PO2 Barluado said that the victim and the suspect were supposed to appear in the Department of Social Welfare and Development office to settle their problem but the suspect didn’t show up.

Police were still conducting a hot-pursuit operation against Dungog./Reporter Jucell Marie P. Cuyos
