San Francisco Asian fest calls for poster art contest entries
SAN FRANCISCO—Entries are now being accepted for the annual poster contest for the Asian Heritage Street Celebration (AHSC) .
The Oakland Asian Cultural Center, in partnership with the Center for Asian American Media and Kearny Street Workshop, are calling on artists to create a sensational artwork to become official poster for 12th Annual Asian Heritage Street Celebration on Saturday, May 21 in the Civic Center Plaza area near the Asian Art Museum.
The winning design will be featured in a wide-scale multimedia community outreach campaign in both the mainstream and Asian Pacific markets.
The poster will be reproduced and distributed through a combination of postcards, flyers, newspapers ads, TV commercials, and SFUSD school awards.
It will also appear as ad banners on transportation vehicles such as Muni, BART, and AC Transit. The winner will earn a $500 grand prize. All entries will be posted at www.asianfairsf.com.
The Asian Heritage Street Celebration is for all Asian and Pacific Islander cultures, with the goal to promote and foster Asian Pacific American identity and to enable cross cultural interaction through the sharing of differences and appreciation of diversity.
This festival will bring together communities through the showcasing of cultures, promoting Asian inspired arts and crafts and food vendors, fundraising and health awareness programs, and entertaining activities for visitors and participants.
“This poster contest has been a fantastic tradition of the Asian Heritage Street Celebration that has provided festival attendees with exciting opportunities to discover inspiring artists, and it encourages creativity,” said Tamiko Wong, executive director of the Oakland Asian Cultural Center. “We hope this year’s design continues to capture the spirit of community and Asian Pacific Islander heritage, and be the best one yet.”
Deadline for submissions is Sunday, February 14, 2016 at midnight.
