Former United States Vice President and activist Al Gore will be visiting the Philippines in March to train participants various parts of the globe to become effective communicators who will aid in raising awareness on the effects of climate change in their respective communities.
Gore, who is the chairman of The Climate Reality Project, will lead the training of the new batch of “climate reality leadership corps” which will be held in Manila from March 14 to 16.
He said that the conduct of the training in Manila is significant as it would be held months after the adoption of the historic Paris Agreement last December.

“In December, the nations of the world concluded a bold and historic agreement, demonstrating a strong and unified global determination to solve the climate crisis.”
“My hope for this training is to build upon the momentum from Paris to work toward solutions from all corners of the world, starting with the Philippines—one of the countries most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change,” Gore said in a statement.

The Paris Agreement is a legal document signed by negotiators from more than 200 countries which provides limits on temperature rise and holds governments accountable to reach the imposed targets.
Aside from Gore, scientists, strategists and communicators who will discuss the science of climate change will be on board for the training.
After the three-day training, participants are expected to educate their communities on the effects of carbon pollution and climate change.
The Climate Reality Project has trained participants from 130 countries to become change agents in their communities. IDL
