STERLING HEIGHTS, Michigan–Close to 200 Filipino American community leaders, businessmen, professionals, private individuals and local and state politicians in Detroit, Michigan, are coming together this Saturday, January 16 to probably the biggest rally held in the United States to support the current administration’s standard bearer, Mar Roxas for President, and Leni Robredo for Vice President in the coming 2016 elections in the Philippines.

Detroit is the 4th US city to stage a political rally, following the historic hosting of Chicago in December. Other US cities that recently held rallies were Los Angeles and San Francisco. Chair of Global Supporters for Roxas and Robredo, Atty. Loida Nicolas Lewis spearheads the political rallies in the US and Europe. She speaks about good governance in the Philippines, and endorses Roxas and Robredo in the 2016 Philippine elections.

Lewis is the Founder, Chair and CEO of TLC Beatrice, a multi-national company based in New York. She is a philanthropist, industrialist, lawyer, and a multi-awarded Filipino community leader in the United States and overseas. She founded three of the largest Filipino organizations: Global Filipino Diaspora Council, US Pinoys for Good Governance or the USP4GG, and the National Federation of Filipino American Associations or the NaFFAA.

Lewis said, “let’s just continue to disseminate information about the significant progress in the Philippines, and the need to continue the Daang Matuwid by electing Mar Roxas for President and Leni Robredo for Vice President in the 2016 Philippine elections. They are the most qualified to lead our country in the next four years.”

Earlier this month, Lewis also went to meet with other overseas Filipinos in Paris, France and Vienna, Austria. She said, “there is no way that most of our kababayans overseas will be educated about what we – as a country, had accomplished under the current Aquino administration other than coming and talking them face to face. We need to share the good news on good governance to influence others.”

The success of Chicago rally in December was encouraging to other supporters of Roxas and Robredo. Ryan Tejero, who is the co-organizer of the Chicago rally, and is helping Atty. Lewis in setting up other US rallies said, “after Detroit Rally on January 16th, Dayton, Ohio will follow on January 17th, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania will follow on January 23rd.”

Other Fil-Am leaders organizing the rallies are Willie Dechavez and Ed Navarra (Michigan), Armin Sayson (Ohio) and Dr. Jocelyn Robredo-Austria and Ernie Gange (Pennsylvania)
