The Ilocano-speaking men in the viral video seen firing high-powered guns to celebrate New Year are found to be based in Guam.
The Anti-Cybercrime Group of the Philippine National Police said on Tuesday that it will coordinate with Interpol to trace the exact location of the men seen on video to be firing indiscriminately in Guam on New Year’s eve.
Supt. Jay Guillermo, ACG spokesperson, said in an interview that they will seek the help of Interpol to call the attention of the family of a certain Eduardo Quinit.

In a report by ACG officer in charge Senior Supt. Arnel Escobal, it said the ACG found that the Facebook video was uploaded by Quinit on Jan. 1.
The people in the video conversed in Ilocano saying “this is how we celebrate New Year in Guam.”
While the men were firing their guns, the plate number of a car seen in the background was similar to those issued in Guam.
“The manner of handling of firearms of some of the persons indicates that they have firearm proficiency trainings,” Escobal said in the report.
As the ACG scrutinized the Facebook profiles of Quinit and his family members, Guillermo said they found photos of the family using their guns for hunting, a popular recreation activity in foreign countries.
The ACG also expressed disappointment over the incident. “Nakakahiya bilang Pinoy na gumagawa ka ng kalokohan sa ibang bansa,” Guillermo said.
